After knocking out Weybridge in an absolute thriller at the MCG the previous week, the Under 17s took on Valley End at Woodlands Lane for the third time this season. After protracted discussions about the rules, Valley End won the toss and chose to bat and were soon under pressure as Yuvraj and Sleighty blasted out the top order, with Sleighty taking 2 wickets and Yuvraj 2-8 from his 4 overs. Padders with 2-16 from his 4, wickets for James and Arthur, and a late burst from Sanj who took 2-5 restricted Valley End to 109 all out. The fielding was tidy and Hayden took 3 catches.
Hugo and Alex started the Tavs reply and both appeared to be in a hurry to get home for the Rugby as Hugo with 50 not out off 28 balls, and Alex with 41 not out from 23, with late flourishes from Savir and Sanj, got us home in the 11th over. So a third consecutive JY title for the Tavs in three years, and a stylish one at that. Well done to all the boys; another fantastic performance and an appropriate way to end the season. And thanks to Chairman Rob who turned up to umpire.
